Sanghvi Kantilal Doshi, GT Group's Founder Chairman was an entrepreneur par excellence and a visionary leader whose unmatched dedication has laid an exceptional foundation of success and value for the company. The life of Sanghvi Kantilal Doshi is an illustrious example of how the social, economical and moral values of a family head can inspire a whole generation. He was born as a second child to Shri. Chunilal Doshi and Shreemati Heera Bai on August 06th, 1943 at Badgaon, a village in Sirohi district in Rajasthan. He did his elementary education in a Government School in Badgaon. He was a fearless and hardworking person by nature. He exhibited leadership qualities right from a young age. These qualities made him lead his NCC group during his school days.

After completing his PUC, he worked in his uncle’s shop in Sumaipur. During this time, his mother urged him to travel to Mumbai to pursue his career thereby sowing the seeds for his vision to see the light. He left for Mumbai with just Rs.50 his mother gave. He worked in a textile shop for around 6 months there. He got married to Shrimati. Kamla Bai during this period.


Shri. Kantilal Doshi moved to Chennai in 1964 where he worked in a company for 3 years. Later he started his own business - General Traders at Govindappa Naicken Street in Chennai. His wife shifted to Chennai later, post which the business bloomed. The couple was blessed with four sons and a daughter.


Shri. Kantilal Doshi lived as a well disciplined and hardworking leader. He treated everyone with compassion and respect irrespective of their ages. His family is the epitome of cultural values and treats their guests with utmost hospitality. Doshi Mansion - the identity of GT Group was inaugurated in 1975. He expanded his business in countries close to India such as Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Following this, many other new ventures were introduced which are the prominent business verticals of GT Group till this date.


Shri. Kantilal Doshi was popularly known as the ’Tiger of the market’. Beyond business, he played an important role in service to society and religion. Shri. Kantilal Doshi held his last breath on 05th April 2019.

Worked in a Shop
